As per reports, the T&T Olympian met with a tragic car accident in Texas, which eventually became his sudden cause of death. NBC Sports Analyst and T&T’s four-time Olympic Medalist, Ato Boldon, has confirmed the death of Deon Lendore. The Sprint Coash stated that Lendore died in a car crash in Texas. He was 29-year-old at the time of his untimely death, which has undoubtedly affected his loved ones and his teammates, who are now mourning the young player’s demise. A few hours before Deon died, he had shared a post on Instagram.
The sprinter had posted two photos and written that every week he checks to see if he has gained any muscles. He had added that “So far, we’re still at zero.” After the saddening piece of news appeared online, several people paid him tributes. Natoya Goule, a middle-distance runner of Jamaica, commented that she was in total shock and added that Deon broke her heart. Besides, Darrell Hill thanked the sprinter for all the laughs and good vibes and prayed for the peace of his soul.
Coach Stewart also took to Twitter to express her sadness at her teammate’s demise. She called Deon one of the funniest and most humble go-getters she had ever seen. However, not much information about car accidents is available yet. Talking about Deon Lendore, he was a World Championships Silver medalist in 2015. In the World Indoor Championships, Deon has bagged three bronze medals. He has represented Trinidad and Tobago at three Olympic Games, including London, Rio, and Tokyo, in 2012, 2016, and 2020 sequentially.
The major highlight of his sports career was his winning the bronze medal at the London games. At the Pan Am Games, he was a 4×400 bronze medalist. The games occurred in 2019 in Lima, Peru. Deon went ahead to win around three silver medals at the Junior Championships of Pan Am, while at the CAC Games, he won a silver medal. In 2014, Deon Lendore was awarded the Bowerman Award.
