Before we look at Why Venom is Afraid of Carnage, let’s take a quick look at who is Carnage? For those who haven’t read the comics yet or for those who want to know how powerful Carnage is, Carnage is a fictional supervillain appearing in Marvel Comics. He is depicted as an adversary of Spider-Man and the archenemy of Venom. Carnage first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #361 back in Apr 1992. This character is created by writer David Michelinie and artist Mark Bagley. The first published artwork of Carnage was penciled by Chris Marrinan.
Carnage belongs to a race of amorphous extraterrestrial parasites known as Symbiotes. They form a symbiotic bond with their hosts and give them super-human abilities. It was originating as an offspring of Venom, but it is much more powerful than his parent symbiote because of the symbiotes’ biology, as their offspring will be much darker versions of their parents. Carnage’s first host was the serial killer Cletus Kasady, a sadistic serial killer.
Carnage made his cinematic debut in Venom, where he entered into the body of Cletus Kasady, played by Woody Harrelson in the post-credits scene of the movie. in Venom 2, we will see these characters returning and hence the name Let There Be Carnage.
Venom 2: Why Venom is Afraid of Carnage?
After the latest trailer for Venom 2, fans are all hyped to see the Venom vs. Carnage fight on the big screen. But we didn’t expect to see Venom being afraid of Carnage. So Why is Venom Afraid of Carnage? Let’s look at that. In the trailer, we can understand that Carnage seems to be a much stronger and more lethal symbiote when compared to Venom. He is also doesn’t seems to have any kind of morality within him, as Venom has. This is what helps Eddie Brock to control Venom.
In the trailer, when Eddie and Venom meet Carnage for the first time, Venom immediately turns tail and flees in fear. While fleeing, he says that it’s a red one, suggesting that it’s much more lethal than Venom. Venom refuses to emerge from Eddie’s body, scared of his vermilion enemy. Eddie finally manages to coax Venom to come back after promising the symbiote that he can eat whoever he wants if he fights against Carnage. This shows how much influence Eddie now has over Venom to make him do things or even obey him. Later in the trailer, we could see both of the Symbiotes fighting.
The fear could be mainly because of how these Symbiotes approached their hosts. For Venom, he simply covered his first host Spider-Man and later Eddie, but Carnage combined with Kasady by working through his bloodstream. This stronger bonding with Kasady is the reason why Carnage being more physically formidable than Venom.
This is also the reason why Carnage has the red color as he joined with Kesady together through the blood. We can assume that Symbiotes like Venom may already know these types of strong bonds. This could explain why Venom is so fearful of facing such an enemy with a ruddy hue. We will need to wait for the movie to be released to see who will win between Venom and Carnage.
