Listen Kari Lake Leaked Call – Liddy was seen cursing and raising his voice on a video posted Friday night by a Twitter account associated with Lake’s campaign.
According to an audio recording of a call between a lawyer for Maricopa County and Kari Lake’s campaign for governor, tensions are boiling over in the days following the election that has been called for Democrat Katie Hobbs to become governor.
Election Day is unforgivable – fight continues
Since before the election, Lake has been priming her base for such a fight, making it clear that she would only accept the results if she won the election. According to her and other right-wing figures, including Trump, long lines at polling locations and technical problems with tabulation machines caused her voters to be “disenfranchised.”
“What happened to Arizonans on Election Day is unforgivable,” Lake said in her video Thursday.
Here’s the leaked kari lake call – Whole Story
According to The Washington Post, lawyers for Kari Lake’s campaign and the Republican National Committee spoke on the phone with a lawyer for Maricopa County, home to Phoenix and over half of Arizona’s voters, hours before she was expected to lose.
As early as Election Day, Lake representatives asked about voting problems. According to the Maricopa attorney Tom Liddy, a lifelong Republican and head of the county’s civil litigation office, an attorney for the RNC stressed the importance of rapid answers toward the end of the phone call.”
He’s the grandson of Watergate’s Gordon Liddy and was the RNC’s deputy counsel.
The RNC lawyer, who Liddy and others identified as Benjamin Mehr, told him that the campaign could not control ‘a lot of angry people out there. Liddy said in an interview Friday that he considered those words a threat.”
Lake’s campaign posted a video of Liddy cursing and raising his voice on Friday night. A request for the full video, taken from the GOP’s war room at a Scottsdale resort, did not get a response from the Lake campaign. A county official said he was shocked when he found out the conversation had been recorded, then posted with just one side’s name out.
Liddy said he told Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone and County Attorney Rachel Mitchell about the call.
This tense exchange between two Republican lawyers reveals the Republican Party’s internal struggle over election administration. It became a focal point of former President Donald Trump’s efforts to reverse his 2020 loss in Maricopa County, the second-largest voting jurisdiction in the country, where that feud became ferocious.
As a result of the midterm elections, growing distrust became open hostility, as captured on video. As part of Lake’s argument, county officials should be thrown out of their jobs and the results should not be certified based on problems with printers that plagued voting across Maricopa County.
The video of the call, originally uploaded by Jenna Ellis, shows Liddy telling the RNC lawyer that he used to work in the same position.
Liddy said, “You seem to be threatening me,” Ben said.
Mehr responded, “I am not threatening you.”.
In response, Liddy characterized how he viewed Mehr’s comments about Lake’s election-denying base as uncontrollable.
Lake hasn’t conceded.
