Based on Julia Quinn’s favourite historic romance novel series of the Bridgerton, the series is the first of eight that will be created for Netflix by Shonda Rhimes‘s production company Shondaland. The Netflix series is set now to be released on Christmas Day, December 25, 2020, on the streaming platform. From the cast to the exclusive first look photos, here’s everything we know so far.

In her last tweet, Shonda confirmed the release date of Bridgerton Netflix series, “People. Get ready. Get excited. Things are happening. We’ll see you on December 25th.”

The show will be the streaming giant’s first under the Shondaland umbrella, two years after Shonda made her huge deal with them, which was reportedly in the neighbourhood of $150 million dollars.

What’s The Storyline? The plot follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the oldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family, as she makes her debut in London society and searches for a husband. She soon crosses paths with the rakish Duke of Hastings (Rege-Jean Page). All the while, the mysterious Lady Whistledown (voiced by Julie Andrews) tracks everyone’s scandals.

The Netflix series has vintage casting, painting a diverse picture of 19th-century England, directed by longtime Shondaland collaborator Chris Van Dusen (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal).
