According to reports, the 73-year-old journalist was hospitalized since May 12 due to his bad health. He has been suffering from health complications for quite some time and it eventually claimed his life on the first day of June. Hugo Gavilanes’s daughter Erika Gavilánez stated that his health started to deteriorate after he was infected with the novel virus. Earlier, she had asked the netizens for a prayer chain for the recovery of the communicator.
However, the journalist still could not be saved as he breathed his last yesterday. It is no doubt to state that everyone close to him is shattered. It is said that Hugo was seriously hurt by the spreading virus which he got infected with in December 2020.
