“Back to You,” indeed.
On Wednesday, celebrity tattoo artist Keith “Bang Bang” McCurdy posted a photo of Selena Gomez with what seemed to be a sizable new back tattoo.
The 29-year-old Rare Beauty founder faced a graffiti-filled wall for the black-and-white snap, sporting a backwards coat that exposed the apparent ink.
Bang Bang — who has given Gomez multiple tattoos in the past — simply captioned the snap, “@selenagomez ✍️.”
While it’s unclear what the design depicts, it appears to start at the base of her neck and drip down between her shoulder blades.
Fans went crazy over the cryptic post, guessing the design could be a “dream catcher” or a “rose.” One wrote, “can’t wait to get a better view of it,” while another asked, “Is this for her upcoming project or Album? Is this permanent?”
It wouldn’t be the first time Gomez alluded to a new project with ink. In 2020, she enlisted Bang Bang to tattoo the word “Rare” on her neck after releasing a single by the same name.
Her extensive collection of body art also includes a cross on her collarbone, several friendship tattoos and one of her favorite Bible verses.
In addition to her several dainty designs, she has at least one larger one: a thigh tattoo of praying hands and a rosary that she debuted at the 2019 American Music Awards.
While Gomez herself has yet to post or comment on it, her new ink — which would be her 16th and largest known tattoo — comes months after she debuted a helix piercing following a night out with friends.
