What Happened In Halo 5?

Halo 5 took a different route and swerved towards a different gameplay feature. In it, the player could take on the role of Master Chief or Spartan Locke. Locke was a different type of Spartan who was a part of Team Osiris. His group comprises the SPARTAN-IV program’s best recruits. The team tracks down Dr. Halsey and learns that colossal alien constructs will destroy human colonies.

Meanwhile, Master Chief reunites with the Blue Team. He, along with his former teammates then receives a cryptic message from Cortana who managed to survive Halo 4. Blue Team then heads off to find Cortana, which causes a rift between them and UNSC authorities.

The UNSC list the soldiers of the Blue Team as AWOL and order Team Osiris to bring Master Chief back. Cortana takes the lead of Blue Team and takes them to the Forerunner world of Genesis.

We then get to learn that Cortana has a sinister plan for galactic peace and how to enforce it. Her plan entails using colossal constructs called Guardians to exterminate armies all over the galaxy. Following that, she will act as the protector and carer of all life throughout the galaxy. When Master Chief refuses her plans, Cortana imprisons him, along with the rest of the Blue Team members. Team Osiris arrives and frees Blue Team, however, Cortana already took off. Cortana leaves the planet on a Guardian, on her way to complete her plan. On her quest, Cortana gains help from many AIs across the galaxy. The massive alliance coerces Infinity to start jumping erratically, evade Cortana and find a way to defeat her.

Where Will The Story Pick Up From?

Halo Infinite will follow the events of Halo 5 and will see a return of old and familiar antagonists. We will see the Banished — the antagonists from the less widely-played Halo Wars 2, making a return. This installation will also see Master Chief waking up from his icy slumber.

The focus seems to be on Master Chief this time, unlike in the previous entry. Although it will take place after the events of Halo 5, it’s still not clear as to what the time difference between the two will be. From all that has been revealed so far, we know it’ll take place on Installation 07. It is a new Halo ring where Master Chief will face off against the covenant faction — the Banished. It seems that Halo Infinite will act as a better starting point for players who are new to the lore.

Halo Infinite Release Date

Although we still do not have a precise date of release for Halo Infinite, we know when it’s gonna arrive. The game will be arriving sometime in the Fall of 2021. This release is about a year later than what was initially expected to be the release timeframe. The late release will have Xbox Series X miss its flagship title by a whole year. Xbox and 343 Industries previously tried averting the delay by releasing Infinite serially. They also tried releasing the multiplayer separately from the single-player. However, they ended up not following through with those routes and the game, despite the delays, is arriving finally. Halo Infinite is set to release for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, in Fall 2021.
